The most salty sea in the world

Worldwide, there are about 80 of the seas, which are an integral part of the World ocean. All these waters are salty, but among them there are Champions that have high concentration of salts and other minerals in its composition. The freshwater sea on the planet is considered as the Baltic sea, the salinity of which is only 7 ‰ (ppm), which is equal to 7 grams per 1 liter of water. Among others, we highlight the most salty sea in the world.

10. White seaSalinity 30‰

The white sea is one of the most salty seas of the world. The salinity here can sometimes reach 30‰. This is one of the smallest seas in Russia, an area of 90 000 sq. km, the Temperature rises to 15 degrees in summer and down to minus 1 degree in the winter. Inhabitants of the White sea are about 50 species of fish, including the Beluga whale, salmon, cod, smelt, and others.

The salinity of its waters reaches places 34‰, and the temperature of the water does not raise above 0 degrees year-round. In the deep sea is home to walrus, sturgeon, sturgeon, perch and other animals.

The sea of Japan, located between the shores of Eurasia to the Japanese Islands and Sakhalin island, is one of the most salty in the world. Its salinity is 35‰. Annual temperature of the waters ranges from 0– 12 degrees in the North and in the southern part of 17-26 degrees above zero. The fauna here is very rich and includes many species of fish. There are herring, Pollock, saffron cod, flounder, pink salmon, chum salmon, anchovy, crabs, shrimp, oysters, squid and many others. Is Japanese salt water area of 1 062 000 sq. km.

4. The Aegean seathe Salinity of 38.5‰

Aegean is among the ten most salty seas in the world. Its salinity is of the order of 38.5‰. Due to the high salinity, after bathing in such water is recommended to wash in fresh water because high concentrations of sodium can severely affect the skin and mucous membranes. Winter temperature here is about 14 degrees above zero, and the summer – plus 24 degrees. It is inhabited by octopus, sardines, sponges and other inhabitants. It focuses a very rich underwater world: sharks, dolphins, rays, eels, and other animals are inhabitants of the red sea. The temperature of the water is 25 degrees above zero all year round. In the Red sea the water is very well and evenly mixed. In winter, surface waters cool, become more dense and sink down and rise up warm water from depth. In summer, with sea surface water evaporates and the remaining water becomes more salty, heavy and descends. In its place rises less salty water. Thus, the entire year the sea water is intensively mixed and in all its volume of the sea the same temperature and salinity, except in the hollows. In addition, the sea has an amazing transparency.

1. The dead seathe Salinity of 270‰

The dead sea is the saltiest in the world, located on the border of Israel and Jordan. Mineral content is about 270 ‰, and the concentration of salts in 1 liter up to 200 grams. The composition of sea salt is significantly different from all others. It consists of about 50% magnesium chloride and is also rich in potassium, bromine, calcium and many other mineral elements. Of its water is artificially crystallized potassium salt. The water here has the highest density, which is 1.3-1.4 g/m3, which completely eliminates the chance of drowning. In addition to the unique salt contains sea mud, which contains 45% salt. Its features are high, the value pH equal to 9, and the bitter and oily taste. The sea temperature can reach 40 degrees above zero, which creates intense evaporation and contributes to the high density. If in other waters with high salinity inhabited by diverse people, then the waters of the Dead sea to meet them is impossible.
